CHRISTMAS ISLAND: BLACKOUT SUMMER (IN THE RED, 2009)

Lo-fi garage pop from San Diego. I've started listening to this one in the morning; it goes well with the day's first cup of coffee. Highlights: "My Baby," a sad, jilted-lover song that descends from 60s girl group laments, and "I Don't Care," a catchy, jangly number about tunnel-vision obsession.

  4. (I did mean it in the most honest and not-insulting of ways) Right on with getting up before noon. I am awful at it. And jealous that Vaughn gets to watch explosions.

  5. hahaha, erin, i know! i'm not insulted. usually when i am up at 4am i almost cry in relief if you come online. vo, the only thing that could make that lineup better is smith westerns. that's my question for 2010: "are the smith westerns opening that show?"
